Percy S. Lewis, Jr., age 58, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Percy was born December 30, 1955 to Percy S. and Doretha Lewis in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from New Castle High School in Delaware and lettered in three sports. Percy discovered his love for singing while in high school. He joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for 20 years before retiring. During his military career, Percy was in the Air Force Security Forces and with the Strategic Air Command Elite Guard. He was selected for the Air Force Entertainment Staff where he served as a Tour Director and was a member for the U.S. Air Force Tops In Blue. He spent five years entertaining Air Force families in over 40 countries. He later served as the Events Program Coordinator for Lackland Air Force Base @ Arnold Hall for military families on base. In 1985 he was stage director for Super Bowl XIX half time show. Percy enjoyed being a jazz vocalist and performing throughout San Antonio with his group, Percy Lewis and Jazz Prodigy. He also received a Grammy nomination for his 2004 CD, ‘All’s Fair in Love’. Percy is preceded in death by his father, Percy S. Lewis, Sr. (MSgt Ret.) He is survived by his wife, Sherri Lewis; son, Brandon Lewis; daughter, Andrea Davidson; mother, Doretha Lewis; sisters, Cheryl Lewis-Smith and Sylvia Gaither; 3 stepsons, Austin Loza (Jenny), Dylan Loza and Qyn Loza; grandson, Braden and numerous nieces. Visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
